Description
The medicine contains the medicine diclofenac, which belongs to the group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is intended to treat pain and reduce inflammation and swelling in several painful conditions affecting the joints and muscles.
The medicine is used:
In adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over, to treat:
- Muscle and joint injuries (eg after a sprain, strain or contusion, back pain, sports injuries)
- Local forms of soft tissue rheumatism (eg, tennis elbow) or stiffness of the shoulder joint
For adults (18 and over):
- To relieve pain in mild arthritis (inflammation) of the joints and spine
Mode of use
The gel is gently rubbed into the skin of the affected area. After applying the drug to the affected area, it is recommended to wash your hands (unless the hands are to be the site of application). The gel should be applied only to healthy and intact skin (without open wounds or wounds), it should not come into contact with the conjunctiva or mucous membranes. The gel can be used with a non-occlusive dressing, but should not be used with a tight, occlusive dressing.
Dosage and dosage regimens
Adults and children from 14 years Apply 3-4 times a day on the affected area. The amount required depends on the size of the painful area, e.g. 2-4 g of the drug (an amount about the size of a cherry to a walnut) is enough to treat an area of about 400-800 cm².
The duration of treatment depends on the indication and the patient's response to treatment:
- In case of soft tissue injuries or soft tissue rheumatism, the gel should not be used for more than 14 days, unless recommended by a doctor.
- For arthritic pain (adults 18 years and older), the duration of treatment should not exceed 21 days, unless recommended by a doctor.
When using the drug for any of the above indications without a doctor's recommendation, the patient should consult a doctor if the condition does not improve within 7 days or if the condition worsens.
Warning
In the third trimester of pregnancy, the drug is contraindicated. During the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the drug should not be used unless absolutely necessary (the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible). In nursing mothers, the drug can be used only after consulting a doctor (the gel should not be applied to the breast of a nursing mother or to large areas of skin or for a long time). If the drug is used by a woman trying to become pregnant, the dose should be as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible. The medicine is contraindicated for children under 14 years of age. If a rash appears on the skin after applying the drug, the treatment should be stopped. The medicine contains propylene glycol and benzoate, which can cause skin irritation. Photosensitivity reactions may occur during treatment (very rare, frequency < 1/10,000).
