The active ingredient of Voltaren Emulgel, gel, 50 g is diclofenac, which belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Diclofenac works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which reduces the production of prostaglandins, substances responsible for pain, inflammation and swelling. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, Voltaren gel also helps reduce symptoms associated with limited soft tissue inflammation - for example, tendinitis and joint capsule inflammation, periarticular inflammation and tennis elbow.
