Rectal measurement

From a medical point of view, rectal measurement is the most accurate measurement method because it best approximates the body's internal temperature. For this, the tip of the thermometer is carefully inserted into the rectal opening (maximum 2 cm). The measurement time is approximately 10-15 seconds.

Measurement at axillary level

At the axillary level, a surface temperature is established, which, unlike the temperature measured at the rectal level, can differ in adults by approx. 0.5 C - 1.5 C. The measurement time in the case of this method is 10-40 seconds. in this case, the fact that e.g. in the case of a cold axillary area, an exact measurement result cannot be established. In order to obtain a measurement result as accurate as possible, which corresponds as closely as possible to the body's internal temperature, we recommend extending the measurement time by 5 minutes.

Oral measurement

At the level of the oral cavity, the temperature is not homogeneous. The oral temperature is, as a rule, by 0.3 ?C ? 0.8?C lower than the temperature measured at the rectal level. For the accuracy of the measurement, place the tip of the thermometer to the left or right of the root of the tongue. The measuring tip must have permanent contact with the tissue during the measurement and must be placed under the tongue, behind one of the two cavities below it. Keep your mouth closed and breathe evenly through your nose. Do not eat or drink before the measurement. The usual measurement time is about 10-30 seconds.

Indication:

Remember that Thermoval rapid/kids/kids flex is a thermometer with maximum measurement, which means that the displayed temperature may increase if the measurement continues even after the sound signal. To determine the internal temperature, rectal measurement is recommended as the most accurate method, as well as extending the measurement time by 3 minutes after the sound signal.
