Description
Sterile dressing with alginate and silver Polisept Vet Al/Ag, 3 pieces of dressing, JM Sante
Properties:
- sterile, direct dressing containing calcium alginate enriched with silver ions;
- calcium alginate has high absorption properties, and silver ions have antibacterial properties;
- when in contact with wound secretions, calcium alginate fibers turn into a delicate gel that fills the wound bed, while silver ions are simultaneously released into the wound acting bactericidally, the resulting gel creates the ideal environment for wound healing: levels optimal humidity that improves granulation and epithelization processes;
- provides thermal insulation and mechanical insulation that protects the wound from external environmental stress factors, without interfering with gas exchange. Silver ions fight infections inside the wound and prevent external infection.
- absorbent dressing with antiseptic properties, which can be used for both superficial and deep, penetrating wounds, both infected and clean;
- the level of exudate in the wound: abundant or medium.
Method of application:
Rinse the wound with POLISEPT VET Wound Irrigation or POLISEPT VET spray.
Dry the skin around the wound, but lightly moisten the wound bed.
Adjust the size of the dressing so that it covers the entire surface of the wound.
Leave an extra 2cm margin.
Place the POLISEPT VET AL/AG dressing directly on the wound.
In the case of deep wounds, they can be filled with an amount of dressing cut to suit their size and shape.
Cover the POLISEPT VET AL/AG dressing with an additional external dressing and secure it with a bandage or patch.
On infected wounds, POLISEPT VET AL/AG should be applied and changed once a day at the initial stage of treatment and thereafter, depending on the degree to which the infection has been combated, until the wound exudate becomes reduced or absent.
Dressing change frequency:
Change the dressing after its surface has completely turned into gel.
This depends, among other things, on the moisture level of the wound.
In case of abundant exudate: the dressing must be changed daily during the initial period of treatment; later - twice a week.
In case of reduced exudate: change the dressing twice a week.
On infected wounds, POLISEPT VET AL/AG should be applied and changed once a day (or depending on the severity of the infection).
Dressing change:
POLISEPT VET AL/AG dressing can be easily removed from the wound without affecting wound healing and/or without causing discomfort (pain).
During the dressing change, the gel residue left in the wound can be easily washed away using POLISEPT VET Wound Irrigation.
Remove the external dressing.
Use forceps to remove the POLISEPT VET AL/AG dressing from the wound.
Clean the wound of gel residue with POLISEPT VET Wound Irrigation.
Precautions:
It is not recommended to use alginate dressing containing silver ions simultaneously with topical treatment with antibiotics or antiseptics, because such treatment will be ineffective (alginate dressing reduces the effectiveness of these remedies).
