Description
The CRP- Screen® test is a rapid blood test to measure the level of the CRP protein . The medical device is a specific, semi-quantitative immunodiagnostic test that is an alternative to rapid medical tests and CRP tests performed in medical laboratories. It allows you to determine if there is an infection and/or inflammation in the body, and if so, what is the cause - viral or bacterial.
CRP (C-reactive protein) is an acute phase protein synthesized by the liver in the presence of inflammation. The increase in the concentration of CRP in the blood in the initial phase of inflammation has a very dynamic evolution and often precedes other clinical symptoms, including fever. Changes are detected after 6-8 hours, and the maximum concentration is reached after 24-48 hours. Measuring CRP levels is used as a reliable marker of inflammation in the body.
The LabHome CRP-Screen ® test is intended for patients to self-administer at home, but can also be used by physicians to help diagnose and initiate appropriate treatment of infection, including deciding on antibiotic therapy. The test should be performed if clinical symptoms suggestive of infection occur, such as low-grade fever, headache, fever, or general weakness. The test result is placed in one of four test ranges:
1) below 8 mg/L: standard,
2) from 8 to 40 mg/L: possible viral infection, medium-severe inflammation,
3) from 40 to 100 mg/L: high probability of developing a bacterial infection,
4) over 100 mg/L: most often in severe bacterial infections.
Performing the CRP-Screen ® LabHome test and reading the test result is quick and easy - it only takes about 10 minutes, and the result is available in 5 minutes. The reliability of the test is very high - it is 98%.
