Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide (polysaccharide) found in human skin. It is part of the intercellular matrix of the dermis. Its job is to bind water, which hydrates the layers of the skin, making the skin naturally elastic and firm. Well-hydrated skin provides a better barrier against harmful external factors and regenerates faster. With age, the amount of natural hyaluronic acid decreases, and as a result, the elasticity of the skin decreases, contributing to the formation of wrinkles, dry skin and reduced elasticity. Adequate hydration of the skin by supplying hyaluronic acid and replenishing its deficiencies can delay these processes. Currently, it is obtained by biotechnological methods using Streptococcus bacteria.
