Description
The three types of lactoferrin naturally found in colostrum all contain lactoferrin , but especially apo-lactoferrin, which is the most valuable of them. This product was developed in collaboration with the team of professionals at Nutrition-Adjustment™.
Breast milk is a very special invention of nature. It contains substances necessary for the development of the intestinal flora and the immune system and at the same time ensures perfect nutrition in the form of macro and micronutrients. Water-soluble fiber from breast milk also develops intestinal flora and the immune system, a beneficial effect that another GAL product, Flora Fiber Complex, also has. However, there is another very important component in breast milk that has powerful antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and biofilm-destroying properties that also support gut flora, working together with the selective prebiotic fibers in breast milk. It is lactoferrin. It is especially abundant in colostrum (after all, when else should a baby need stronger protection than at its first encounter with the outside world, so that inappropriate bacteria do not settle and multiply in its small digestive tract ). There are also three types of lactoferrin, depending on how much iron it contains. The so-called apo-lactoferrin, which contains the least or no iron, is the most powerful, but the others are also needed.
A milk extract with almost 100% pure lactoferrin is used (importantly, it has almost zero content of milk proteins and lactose), in which all three types of lactoferrin are kept in an intact form by a process mild, while the valuable apo -lactoferrin significantly predominates. It is mixed with wisteria and some micronized bamboo fibers, so it does not need to be swallowed in capsules, it has a pleasant taste and is easily soluble in any liquid. In addition to many benefits, glycine also provides a pleasant sweet taste and removes the natural bitterness of lactoferrin.
While breast milk fiber is primarily beneficial for gut flora and is for general daily use, improving gut flora from day to day to years, lactoferrin is primarily beneficial for infections. Maternal fibers are suitable in small doses for general use for a long time, while lactoferrin is better to be used in large doses as part of treatment, only if necessary (of course, it is also suitable in small doses for use overall, but its price is high for daily consumption and may not be worth it).
About 25% of women develop iron deficiency during pregnancy. Iron supplementation is harmful to the fetus, but so is iron deficiency in the mother. Fortunately, however, whether or not to take iron in case of iron deficiency is not a dilemma; she shouldn't be taking it, there are better ways to correct iron deficiency, more effective and less dangerous, in fact! One of the main effects of lactoferrin is to prevent pathogenic bacteria and possibly other pathogens from taking up the iron they need to function. Its antibacterial action is mainly due to iron deficiency. Therefore, supplementing with iron is often not a good idea because it gives pathogens and bad bacteria in the gut better access to iron.
A 2014 human intervention study confirmed that a low dose of lactoferrin is significantly more effective at increasing iron levels than iron intake alone. Additionally, among the mothers in the study, those who received lactoferrin had a decrease in the inflammatory marker IL-6, while it increased in those who took iron. Most importantly, there were no miscarriages among mothers taking lactoferrin, but unfortunately there were 5 miscarriages among mothers receiving iron (156 with lactoferrin and 139 with iron).
