Description
The Diather urinary tract infection test is a medical device designed to determine 4 parameters: the presence of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in the urine. A home test strip is useful in the initial diagnosis of urinary tract infections in both adults and children, and the starting material for the tests is a freshly collected urine sample.
When is the Diather test recommended for urinary tract infections?
Diather Urinary tract infections The test is indicated in the event of symptoms such as a feeling of pressure on the urinary bladder with the simultaneous inability to urinate or the excretion of a very small amount of urine, burning pain when urinating, cloudy urine with an unpleasant odor, fever, condition of sickness and/or pain in the lumbar region. The Diather 4-Parameter Urinary Tract Infection Rapid Test Strip allows you to get the result within 2 minutes of performing the test.
Urinary infections are one of the most common causes of medical interventions, they occur up to 50 times more often in women than in men, with the highest incidence among people aged 16-35. Under normal conditions, urine from the bladder, ureters and renal calyces is sterile. Infection is usually ascending, and the typical first stage of infection is colonization of the urethral opening, followed by passage of microorganisms from the urethra into the bladder. Urinary tract infections may be indicated by the presence of protein, blood, nitrites, and/or an increased number of leukocytes in the urine. Urinary tract infections that are left untreated or neglected can become chronic. The test for urinary tract infections allows the early detection of the infection and the initiation of appropriate treatment, thus increasing the patient's chances of a quick and effective recovery.
What can the detection of leukocytes, blood, nitrites and proteins in the urine indicate?
The presence of nitrites in the urine is indirect evidence of urinary tract infections , as it indicates the presence of bacteria in the urinary system that can convert dietary nitrates and protein metabolism into nitrites. A small amount of leukocytes in the urine is acceptable, but an increased number of leukocytes can indicate a urinary tract infection , including: acute or chronic, kidney disease or even cancer. However, a trace of protein in the urine does not necessarily indicate a serious abnormality. Its cause can be, for example, intense physical exercise. When the amount of protein in the urine exceeds physiological values, kidney disease, including pyelonephritis , can be suspected. However, so-called hematuria can occur in diseases of the upper urinary tract. Blood in the urine can be a symptom of urolithiasis, kidney cysts, kidney tuberculosis or cancer. Bloody urine can also occur in cases of inflammation of the urethra, its narrowing, the presence of a foreign body or cancer
