Description
Contril ® Syrup is a cherry-flavored antitussive medicine intended for children over 2 years of age and adults. The preparation is used orally to treat dry (non-productive) cough associated, for example, with upper or lower respiratory tract infection, whooping cough.
What does Contril ® 60 mg/10 ml syrup contain? How does it work?
The active substance of Contril ® is levodropropizine, an antitussive agent that acts on cough receptors in the bronchi and trachea and eliminates bronchospasm. The mechanism of action is its inhibitory effect on C fibers. Levodropropizine reduces the frequency and intensity of cough, inhibits the cough reflex and facilitates breathing, relieving dry, persistent cough.
The maximum duration of use of Contril ® without medical consultation is 7 days. After this time, it is recommended to stop using the preparation and consult a doctor. A cough is a symptom of a disease, and the disease causing it must be recognized and treated.
