Clisma-Lax is a device designed to perform colon cleansing enemas easily, quickly, safely and hygienically; it is ready-made and the application does not require any other accessory or the need to prepare secondary additions.
Clisma-Lax contains an aqueous saline solution and consists of a soft and easy-to-handle plastic bottle, which also functions as an administration device, equipped with a pre-lubricated atraumatic rectal cannula, equipped with a patented valve for adjusting the flow rate with a mechanism leakproof.
With Clisma-Lax everything is already ready: both the active saline solution contained in the bottle and the bottle itself, which is also an administration tool.
So, this device makes the enema, which in the past was a rather unpleasant and laborious practice, to be a very quick intervention, which can be practiced both at home and elsewhere, in increased safety and hygiene conditions, without to present the discomfort, risks and time-wasting that characterized traditional methods.
Mechanism of action:
- The evacuative action of Clisma Lax is exerted by 133 ml of hyperosmotic sodium phosphate saline solution, stabilized and buffered at pH 5.5, tested and widely used for decades in Europe and the United States
- This phosphate formula contained in Clisma Lax is confirmed by the most important pharmacopoeias, including USP and British Pharmacopoeia
- Following rectal administration, the hyperosmotic solution draws water from the surrounding tissues, thus subsequently increasing the volume of the rectal contents, which relaxes the intestinal walls and stimulates the need to evacuate gently, without effort, with the help of an almost physiological mechanism
- Except for very rare situations, the evacuation enema serves a simple purpose: to clean the large intestine. But there are many reasons to want a clean colon
- An enema is essential in preparation for diagnostic, radiological and colonoscopy examinations, in surgical procedures involving the bowel and in obstetrics, before and after birth
- Since the enema has the ability to quickly empty the bowel, when this need arises, and the action remains limited to the large intestine only, its practical utility is considered indispensable in the case of patients with heart disease, who must evacuate without effort, in the case of patients paraplegics, in the case of certain neurological patients for whom oral laxatives are not recommended or are contraindicated.
Use:
- Enema-Lax is indicated in cases of constipation and for emptying the rectum before diagnostic, radiographic, urological, gynecological and colonoscopy examinations
- The dosage for adults and children over 12 years old is one vial or according to the doctor's prescription: in case of special needs, two or three vials can be administered consecutively
- For children aged between 3 and 12 years, half a bottle or as prescribed by the doctor
- Not to be used for children under 3 years of age
- The use of Clisma Lax can contribute to the correction of the disturbances caused by constipation and the regulation of the intestine, but, except in cases where it is recommended by the doctor, the daily administration of ClismaLax should not exceed 7 days.
Ways of use:
- Enema-Lax can be performed at ambient temperature. If it is preferred warm, it is enough to be put in contact with warm water (by immersing it under the tap jet). For a better effect, it is recommended to perform the Lax Enema lying on the left hip
- For a better cleansing action, desirable before diagnostic exams, take the genupectoral position for a few minutes immediately after administration
- Remove the protective cap from the rectal cannula
- Take the bottle and gently insert the cannula into the rectum, in the direction of the navel, then press the bottle completely. A remainder of the solution is expected to remain in the bottle. In children, the cannula should not penetrate more than half of its length
- Once the injection is finished, remove the cannula and discard the inserted device
- Remain in the lying position until you feel the urge to pass, which usually occurs within 5 minutes
- It is not necessary to retain the enema for more than 5 minutes, preparing in any case for evacuation, even in the absence of stimuli, since the administered solution must be eliminated in any case in the shortest possible time.
Contraindications:
- Like other similar products, Enema Lax is generally well tolerated at any stage of age and condition
- In any case, Enema Lax is contraindicated, like any other evacuation enemas, in the case of dialysis patients; if they suffer from disorders that could prolong the solution's stay in the intestine, such as: megacolon, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, fecaloma
- In addition, Enema Lax is contraindicated in case of hemorrhoids; in the case of acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the intestine and in case of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Warnings and precautions for use:
- Lax enema should only be administered occasionally, as needed, and as infrequently as possible
- Its use over long periods of time requires a doctor's prescription
- It should not be used in case of nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, intestinal obstruction or stenosis, rectal bleeding
- In children under 12 years of age and in elderly people who are not in good health, consult the doctor before using Clisma Lax
