Bromhexin 8 Berlin-Chemie contains bromhexinium chloride, which is a bronchosecretolytic (a medicine to loosen mucus in respiratory diseases associated with the formation of thick mucus). Medicines with a lower drug content are available for children under 6 years of age.

Dosage

• Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age: Take 1 to 2 tablets 3 times a day (equivalent to 24 to 48 mg of bromhexine chloride per day).
• Children and adolescents aged 6 to 14 years: Take 1 tablet 3 times a day. (equivalent to 24 mg bromhexine chloride per day).
• Patients weighing up to 50 kg: Take 1 tablet 3 times a day. (equivalent to 24 mg bromhexine chloride per day).

Tablets should be taken after a meal and washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid.

Warning

• Pregnant women should consult a doctor when using the drug.
• In the first trimester, the use of the drug is not recommended.
• Breastfeeding women should not take the medicine.
• Children under the age of 6 should not take the medicine.
• Patients with renal insufficiency or severe liver disease should be given the drug with increased caution (ie, at longer intervals or at a lower dose).
