What is Bromhexin Arena and what is it used for
Bromhexin Arena is a medicine that liquefies secretions from the bronchi, being indicated in acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases accompanied by viscous secretions, such as tracheobronchitis, acute bronchitis, exacerbations of chronic bronchopneumopathy, bronchiectasis (dilation of the bronchi with secondary infection and the production of secretions ), other lung diseases.
If after 3 days you do not feel better or if you feel worse, you must consult a doctor.
How to take Bromhexine Arena
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults : the recommended dose is 8–16 mg bromhexine hydrochloride three times a day.
Use in children and adolescents
Adolescents and children over 10 years: the recommended dose is 8 mg bromhexine hydrochloride (1 Bromhexin Arena 8 mg tablet) three times a day or 12 mg bromhexine hydrochloride (1 Bromhexin Arena 12 mg tablet) twice a day.
Children under 10 years of age: since the doses for this age group are lower than 8 mg, it is recommended to use other formulations with appropriate concentrations.
Mode of administration
The tablets will be administered half an hour after meals, with a sufficient amount of liquid.
Duration of treatment
The treatment must be of short duration (maximum 5 days).
If you take more Bromhexin Arena than you should
If you take more than you need from Bromhexin Arena, adverse reactions may occur in a more serious form, as a result, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately or go to the nearest hospital.
If you forget to take Bromhexin Arena
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If you have any additional questions about this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Adverse reactions are classified according to the following frequencies:
Very common: affecting more than 1 patient in 10
Common: affecting less than 1 in 10 patients Uncommon: affecting less than 1 in 100 patients Rare: affecting less than 1 in 1000 patients Very rare: affecting less than 1 in 10,000 patients
With an unknown frequency that cannot be estimated from the available data
The drug is usually well tolerated. During the clinical trials and after the drug was placed on the market, the following adverse reactions were identified:
Rare adverse reactions:
- hypersensitivity reactions
- rash on the skin, hives
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
- headaches and dizziness.
Adverse reactions with unknown frequency
- anaphylactic reactions including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapid swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, submucous mucous tissues) and itching
- severe adverse skin reactions (including multiform erythema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome/necrolysis
- toxic epidermica and acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis)
- the pre-existing gastro-duodenal ulcer can recur;
- transient increase in the values of serum concentrations of transaminases.
