Description
Aescin is a gel medicine that has anti-swelling and anti-inflammatory properties and protects venous vessels. It also normalizes capillary membrane permeability, seals capillary endothelium and reduces lymph transudation. Aescin is used locally in the supportive treatment of injuries (bruises, sprains), phlebitis of the lower limbs, local inflammations, hematomas and swellings after surgery and spinal pain with compression of spinal nerve roots. It can also be used to help reduce other adverse symptoms such as leg pain and heaviness, itchy skin, lower limb swelling, and calf muscle cramps that occur in lower limb venous disorders.
The active substances of the drug are alpha-escin, diethylamine salicylate and heparin. Escin is the main saponin of horse chestnut seeds, which has anti-swelling and anti-inflammatory properties and improves the tone of blood vessels (however, its effect after local administration cannot be confirmed with certainty). In addition, it has a lower permeability of blood vessel walls and has anti-swelling and anti-inflammatory properties. It also normalizes the permeability of capillary membranes, seals the capillary endothelium and reduces lymphatic transudate. Heparin is a naturally occurring polyanionic polysaccharide. It inhibits all phases of blood coagulation. When used topically, it has anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory effects. Diethylamine salicylate used topically has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.
The Aescin package (20 mg + 50 mg + 50 IU) is a metal tube containing 40 g of gel.
