Description
Acetylcysteine 200mg x 20 caps., Laropharm
The active substance is acetylcysteine.
Each capsule contains 200 mg of acetylcysteine and excipients: capsule content - magnesium stearate, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide; capsule shell - titanium dioxide (E171), Brilliant Blue (E133), Sunset Yellow (E110), Ponceau 4R (E124), gelatin.
Therapeutic indications
Acetylcysteine is part of the group of mucolytic drugs.
Acetylcysteine is indicated for the treatment of respiratory diseases where a reduction of the viscosity of the bronchial secretion is necessary to facilitate expectoration.
It is recommended in the treatment of bronchial secretion disorders, especially during acute bronchial diseases (acute bronchitis), in exacerbations of chronic bronchopneumopathy and in cystic fibrosis.
It can also be used to liquefy sputum for microbiological examination.
Warnings and precautions
Before using Acetylcysteine Laropharm, contact your doctor or pharmacist if:
- you have asthma or if you have experienced bronchospasm reactions in the past, because acetylcysteine can contribute to triggering hypersensitivity reactions or bronchospasm;
- you have a history of gastro-duodenal ulcer, because acetylcysteine can be irritating to the stomach, especially if used simultaneously with other irritating drugs.
Doses and method of administration
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as you will
your doctor or pharmacist said. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, for the treatment of acute disorders of bronchial secretion, the usual dose is:
- Children aged between 2-6 years: Not recommended for use due to inadequate concentration and pharmaceutical form;
- Children and adolescents aged between 6-14 years: 1 capsule 2 times a day (equivalent to 400 mg acetylcysteine per day);
- Adolescents over 14 years old and adults: 1 capsule 2-3 times a day (equivalent to 400 - 600 mg acetylcysteine per day).
Method of administration: the capsules must be swallowed whole (not chewed). Take Acetylcysteine Laropharm after meals, with an adequate amount of water.
Duration of administration: If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 4-5 days, please contact your doctor.
In chronic bronchitis and cystic fibrosis, a long-term treatment is necessary for prophylactic purposes.
Ask your doctor to determine the dosage and duration of treatment.
Special warnings
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or intend to become pregnant, ask your doctor for recommendations before taking this medicine.
Driving vehicles and using machines
Acetylcysteine Laropharm does not influence the ability to drive vehicles or use machines.
